Kethaswara (also known as Aces Padura) is an aesthetic talent showcase organized by the Department of Computer Engineering. It's a night filled with music, dance, and drama. The event featured performances from both academic and non-academic staff, as well as students from across the University of Peradeniya, creating a warm and inclusive atmosphere. The event was held on 19th February 2025 in front Engineering Faculty AR building<\/p>\r\n
The main motivation behind organizing Kethaswara was to foster creativity, strengthen the bond among students and staff, and promote cultural appreciation within the university community. It offered participants an opportunity to relax, collaborate, and celebrate their shared passion for the arts. The event received highly positive feedback from attendees, who praised its lively performances, excellent organization, and the opportunity it provided to experience the diverse talents within the department, making it one of the most anticipated and memorable events of the year.<\/p>\r\n

ACES Coders, organized by the Association of Computer Engineering Students (ACES), stands as the premier annual competitive coding competition in Sri Lanka. Originating thirteen years ago, ACES Coders began as a practice event to prepare Computer Engineering students at the University of Peradeniya for participation in similar online programming contests like IEEEXtreme and ACM ICPC. <\/p>\r\n
The event spanned approximately 17 hours, beginning with the Opening Ceremony on the 5th of October, followed by the competition that continued overnight and concluded with the Closing Ceremony on the 6th of October. A total of 91 teams, comprising 267 participants, took part in the competition. The champions of the event were Insomniacs from the University of Peradeniya, while WeWillWin from the University of Moratuwa emerged as the first runner-up, and SurgicalMasks, also from the University of Moratuwa, secured the position of second runner-up. The event was held at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Peradeniya, utilizing venues including EOE, DO1, and Lecture Halls 7 and 8. The 11th version, ACES Coders V11.0 is bigger and better than ever. In this 12-hour challenge, participants will solve many problems using their coding skills. Line Quest 1.0 is an open competition for school students from all over the country. In this competition, students design and build a line-following robot using Arduino microcontrollers to show their skills and creativity. The event started at 07.00 AM and ended at 05.30 PM on 05th of October 2024 at the Floor, New Mechanical Building, Faculty of Engineering<\/p>\r\n
Project Nenathambara, together with ACES, organized the Nenathambara Workshop Series to introduce school students to electronics and Arduino programming. It began with an in-person workshop at the University of Peradeniya and included a teacher seminar to support classroom learning. Schools received Arduino kits for continued practice, followed by an online workshop series for 12 schools, conducted in both Sinhala and Tamil. The nine sessions covered Tinkercad basics, LED projects, sensors, and digital displays. Overall, the program fostered hands-on learning, creativity, and problem-solving while equipping both students and teachers with practical knowledge in electronics and programming. The number of schools participated for the initial in-person workshop is 13 and also 13 schools actively participated in the competition. <\/p>\r\n
